Extending the Flash IDE can be a huge timesaver if you have a lot processes that you do over and over with new fla’s. This gets a lot easier to do in CS3 and with help from gotoAndLearn(). He has a great video tutorial (along with many others) on how to extend flash by making your own unique panels. The tutorial walks you through the entire process from creating the jsfl scripts to compiling your own mxp file for distribution.
